Ian Wolterstorff
Ian Wolterstorff is a Los Angeles–based ceramic artist whose work reflects the region’s blend of experimentation, craftsmanship, and design. After beginning his career in the entertainment industry as a writer and actor, he transitioned to ceramics upon discovering the vibrant community of makers in Pasadena.
Working primarily on the wheel, Ian creates both functional and sculptural pieces that balance intuitive form with careful attention to surface and material. His process is guided by an in-the-moment sensitivity to proportion, movement, and visual harmony, resulting in work that feels both refined and organic.
In addition to his studio practice, Ian teaches wheel throwing at Green & Bisque Clayhouse, where he offers classes and private instruction. His work is currently available in select retail locations in the Los Angeles area.
